Hi there. I'm new to the board. Hello to all. Nice to see a machine specific site. I'm thinking about trading in my 06 Outlander 800 on a 07 Raptor 700R SE. I know they are totally different machines but I think the Raptor style will suit my riding style more then the sport ute. So, anyone have any feedback on this machine? I'm looking for real honest stuff, good and bad. Is it reliable, have there been any issues? I've gone through the ringer with my Outlander so I certainly don't want to go through that BS again on another machine. I think the Raptor is the best fit for me. I like big torque motors and high tech parts like the OEM suspension on the SE. The only other machine that I would compare to the Raptor is the DS650 Baja X. What discourages me on the Baja is no EFI and no reverse. So, the Raptor is it. I do like the fact the Baja comes fully dressed though with skid plates, nerf bars, tach etc. But those can be added on the Raptor after.

Look foward to the responses.

thanks

I went from the Grizzly to my Raptor SE this summer and love it!! Although I still have the Grizzly I have only been on it to plow the driveway since I got my Raptor.
I don't think I've honestly heard of anyone not being happy with the raptor. There are some real minor issues but every quad has its querks. Most of these should have been resolved with the 07. THe fan plugs being loose, a fuel pump issue was really all there was. The 07 se's have better shocks with more adjustabilty than the 06's. For just a small amount of aftermarket investment the rappy becomes a very good trail/ racer/duner. As far as aftermarket the anly things you'll really want to do is get a pipe a fuel controller an intake then nerfs and skids and your set. Spen a little time in here ready the sticky's and search the topics and you will quickly learn how great and how happy everyone is with the raptor
Just got my Raptor a couple weeks ago, and I absolutely dont regret it at all! I normally rode a Polaris sportsman 500.. and that was nice for utility type stuff.. snow plow, ect.. But if you want a fast toy.. there is nothing better!
I have a kymco 300 that i use for farming and managed to borrow a 660 for 2 weeks. That was it .I saved up and ,5 weeks ago bought a brand new 700 SE.What an awesome machine. The throttle response is instant, the suspension is stable and the power is incredible.
For me it is the ultimate machine.I am 1m97 and weigh 105kg and find the power to weight ratio to be awesome.

These are all great replies. Glad to see the overall experience is positive. I'm 6'4" and about 235lbs myself. So if it's comfy and well sized for you, then it will be for me too. I guess now it's just up to the dealer and what kind of deal he will give me.

thanks guys

Well as for me, I love this beast so much I went out and got a twin for my 06 (sig) so I can say aside from the small issues GuamRaptor700 mentioned, they are good quads. This choice you will not regret.

P.S. Blue is the fastest, :grin_nod: but the new S.E. looks nice. 8)

And here I thought it was the graphics, come to find out I just have the wrong color
Well the graphics do give you that extra 10 H.P., but the color blue counts for an extra 20 H.P. ;) Just a lil inside info. from Ya Mama Ha themselves.

Thats what I was thinking :grin_nod:
Tiggy don't let these guys fool you the white one has always been the fastest and now with that white and blue 07 coming out its going to be the fastest one yet. It has all the speed of the white ones and all the ego of the blue ones :grin_nod:
I see you found the best Raptor resource on the net, I gave my opinion back on the Frontier, but to sum it up...

Im sure ill have plenty of questions for all of you.
Can't go wrong on a raptor ..
but that Outlander is one [email protected] machine
anyway you can keep the Outlander and still get the raptor ..
I am looking into picking up a Outlander for a second quad ..

good luck on your quest
happy quadding
and welcome aboard
Blue and white was fast, then the new orange and black got faster,so they made a new blue and white for 07 which is faster yet! BUT!!!! there all still trying to catch grey and red.Best Bike I've ridin so far.
The '06 700 SE is the first quad I've ever owned. I've put enough hours on it now to know that I made the right choice.

So far I've ridden some fairly technical trails (Tahuya, Wash.), on sand/gravel mixed dunes (Moses Lake, Wash.), on sand dunes (Florence, Ore.) and on wet/hard packed beach sand (Sand Lakes, Ore.). I've yet to run across something I couldn't climb or cross ... except for a downed tree - even then I was impressed because the 700s are light enough to lift.

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced rider I don't think you'll be dissapointed. The shocks on the '06 700s were a bit weak but still plenty for an intermediate rider like me that is 6'5" and weighs 255 pounds. And they seem to have been upgraded for 2007.

The only dissapointment I've had was with the location of the oil hole in the GYT-R skidplate. Again I bought one of the first 700s. I understand Yamaha has taken care of the problem since then.

Bottom line: My only complaint was with an add on part. Not the quad itself.

I just got the 07 SE a couple weeks ago, and I love it. I was surprised one night this week, it was about -20 celcius, it still started instantly. Its one of the most comfortable quads Ive ever ridden. I'm 5'10" and about 150lbs, my friend is 6'4" and about 225lbs, he has an 06 700 and he says its one of the most comfortable quads he's ever ridden too. He's put that quad through more abuse than anyone Ive ever seen, especially since he's only had it about 8 months (although tons of hours of riding), and he still hasnt had any problems with it.
