Hey all, just got myself a new toy! 09 KFX450R. i know, i know, not a raptor, but i like 450's too and this one is fuel injected, and has reverse. Once i finish the 07 rappy 700 build, i will likely sell the ol' 660 that made me love raptors to begin with because i dont need 3 quads. LOVE the new horse in the stable, but tears for the 660:crying

Just make sure to get seat time on the kfx before you let the 660 go. I sold my kfx450r after a year due to its very tight riding position, hard seat and long efi starting sequence. I went to a 660r and could not be happier. They are light bikes but like to eat clutch baskets. If you like standing up to ride or mx then the kfx is good. I hated mine in the woods and hill climbs
Swingers crack at the back clamp down area. Frames went easy and can crack on the straight frame rails. PEM incerts break off where they are pressed in. Keep radiator clean or they over heat. Stock shock suck as with all machines, steering stem needs plus 2 to not feel like your on a crotch rocket. Factory footpegs do mot hold your feet in place ims pegs fix that. You can open the air filter up some with cttinf out plastic and a notoil air filter with no lid. Just drill more drain holes in the bottom. Battery cables route under frame and can get cut so route them better. They pull good with high comp piston. Do not leave in gear if you park it due to ecu will drain battery. they rip, but are geared funny and I found 1st to 2nd shifting alot, most bikes I try to hear so I can run 2nd all day. The seat foam is too hard and works better if you steal a 660 seat and have it shaped to fit over the kfx seat then recovered. I miss the lightness but I needed a more woods friendly bike for the hills.

If you swap Honda hubs from a 300-400 450 trx you will get about 48x or so. They use same bolt pattern as the Kawasaki rear rims. You can add a 1" front spacer if your bushing are not all wore out. mine were so i put arms on it and an lsr axle. The manual fan switches are done due to the fan switch prob stopped working. Mine did same thing, most do.
Told ya! I can't go back it's raptors only got me now.
