Apparently the bike dies if the battery connection is loose / removed on the 700.

A friend of mine just got back from Dumont dunes, extremely banged up.

He noticed his bike would occasionally sputter over the last couple of trips. He changed the plug. Completely intermittant prob. He loves to catch air. Well, heading up a jump in 4th gear, the bike cut power before the lip, causing him to superman off as the nose dove down. He didn't push off hard enough and had the bike land on him. No broken bones luckily, but bruised ribs and strains / sprains to both his legs. He'll be out of commision for a while.

So, the point being... maintainence is a good thing. A good once-over every now and then could really save you.
