They are CFM air scoops.
They claim up to 4 degree drop in engine temperatures.
I would think that may be possible under the right conditions, but regardless, they do direct more air at the front of the engine and header pipe, so every little bit counts.
I like how they look too.

And yes, I have CFM's coolant tank guard as well.
And their oil tank...they make good stuff.

They are XRW brand
They also come in black powdercoat.
I got them from a British seller on ebay

Another British seller has the same design frame guard with 700R cut out instead of the XRW cut out.
