The Raptor 80 uses 12 steel balls to engage the pressure plates. you can remove 4 or 8 of these balls and it will cause the engine to have to rev higher before the clutch becomes engaged. this allows more power (RPM) when starting from idle. you have to remove the engine clutch cover and slide the clutch plates out of the clutch basket to get to the balls (not really difficult).
How many do you recommend taking out for dune riding? Also, first and second gear is all my boys are able to use when riding in the baby dunes. 3rd lugs down pretty bad. Will the clutch mod help them out?
I plan on investing in a high rev CDI box and pipe in the future but for now, the mods seem worth it
