I've got a vibration noise at idle when i give it some gas. It also makes the noise in first gear. Any thoughts? I've checked the obvious - loose bolts, skid plate, etc. It sounds like it's coming from the bottom end of the motor on the left.

My guess is that it's a tranny thing because it shifts hard and sticks - especially with reverse. This started after I stood my raptor up on it's wheelie bar to measure for a skid plate - I guess raptors don't like to stand up.

If I pull the transmission case will I have to replace the gasket? I'd like to inspect the tranny but I don't want to pay for a new gasket unless I have to replace the plates.

Any thoughts, parts, procedures would be appreciated.

If you have the stock shifter you can start with the shifter pivot on the foot peg. No seal or lube point so it may be stiff.
The shift linkage may also be done.

Inspecting the tranny means you'll pull the motor and split the case's, it a fair amount of work for just inspection. The clutch cover can be pulled without pulling the motor but it needs a gasket.

Could also be an overstretched Timing Chain, that will make a hellacious rattle
