I was wondering on a good suspension setup for trail/desert riding. Rather than just getting answers specific to that, I thought it may be a good idea to start a post (I couldn't find one using search) detailing people's setups and the type of riding they do. I'm hoping we can get good participation on this so it can be a source of information for newbies like me. I noticed a lot scattered posts, but it would be nice to have a post detailing different riding setups. (Please note your suspension type LT/ST)

Riding Style: Dunes mostly. Sometimes desert.
Suspension: +3" ASR long travel arms with Elka piggy resivioirs comp and reb adjust. Rear +4 swingarm.
Tires: Stock front and rear for desert. Skat Trak 8 Paddle 20-10-10 Haulers for dunes.
Exhaust: Trinity
Intake: Pro Design, no lid
Engine: Stock
EFI Controller: Power Commander
Complaints: Wont pull 4th gear in the powerband up steep sand dunes, doesnt jump as neutral
as my girls LTR 450.

Suspension: All stock, +6 J&J swingarm, J&J drag axle
Tires: Front Stock, rear 22x11x8 8 paddle haulers
Exhaust: Rocket Factories out of the frame drag pipes
Intake: Trinities intake, k&n filter, no air box at all
Engine: Rocket Factories 770 Big Bore Kit, Stage 3 cams, Stage 3 spring kit, 4mm crank, 105.5 cylinder, Stage 3 Head Port
EFI Controller: Power Commander
Complaints: none

Do you like the long travel elkas glamis? I was checking out their Elite series, saw lots of good reviews on the forum.

That motor sounds like a beast, roost.

 

[ATC-Crazy]

Riding Style: Fast and agressive riding on Wooded trails, fire roads, and technical (rocks, logs, etc..). Some jumps 15 feet or less
Suspension: Houser +0.5 STD travel A-arms, stock SE shocks
Tires: Stock rear tires reversed, 23" front Razr2's.
Exhaust: Trinity Stage IV full exhaust, quiet core installed
Intake: Stock, lid removed
Engine: Stock
EFI Controller: PCIII (Map M416-034)
Complaints: Needs a new set of matching tires. 23" front and 20" rears look goofy and are not the best at handling.

Riding Style: Dunes / Drags / Jumping
Suspension: I shock i5500 Complete Front End
Tires: Razr Front / Kenda sand Gecko rear
Exhaust: Pro Circuit T4 Complete
Intake: GYTR Cone filter and Intake
Engine: Stock
EFI Controller: PCIII accel pump 80-20-20
Complaints: i cant keep the front end down .... :thumbsup:
