Solenoid click no start. Help

109 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  QuadManiac
I recently purchased a 02 660 last winter rode it a couple time everything worked as it should no issue. Only thing I noticed was rectifier was unplugged but it ran fine without it. Problem now is I went to start it tonight solenoid clicked. I started to mess with the 3 wires running to it as they appear to be in rough shape! When I touch the small red wire to the positive side of terminal the headlights come on same with the yellow/black both with headlight switch on. I’m worried I fried the cdi or something because they don’t go to the headlights at all looking for some help anything is appreciated at this point. Thanks

1) from the information you've given your battery is dead... charge or replace it.
2) DON'T randomly short wires to battery plus... yellow to battery can often damage the CDI - If you don't hear any click from solenoid after a good charge or jump, you have. Ask me how to fix it.
3) if you got it with rec/reg unplugged the seller screwed you - the stator likely has a short and needs to be replaced. But that won't prevent you from starting (as long as you unplug the rec/reg again).
seller claimed stator was replaced and had a
Gave me the old side case and stator. Battery is fine cdi is fine solenoid is fine loose connection at starter 🤦‍♂️

THen what you failed to say was that it still ran okay when you re-connected the rec-reg...
