Will running a spark plug that doesn't burn as hot keep the engine running cooler? I am currently running an NGK DR7EIX iridium plug. If I go to a DR8EIX or DR9EIX would that help keep engine temps down on those long rides?

I thought the higher numbers were higher heat ranges? I've been told playing with heat ranges isn't too good of an idea though.

higher number is cooler... thats why a lot of people who have 2 stroke bikes will lower the number on the heat range on their spark plugs from the factory 10 to an 8, so they won't foul...
