having a hard time removing the spark arrestor. ive removed the allen bolt on the end of the pipe and from that point do you pull out the sparky or do you unscrew the purging bolt or what, ive tried to pull it out and cannot bung it out, and does this removal make the exhaust louder??

just take out the allen bolt and drive it around and it should shoot out. At least that is what I did when I couldnt get mine out. It's really loud with it out so dont lose the allen screw(I did) in case u want to put it back.
Use some pliers and wiggle it out. save everything in case you want to put it back in.
Let it get hot and pull it out then, a blip of the throttle may help also.
Yeah like Hallz said. I just hit the throttle like 4 times and it popped out on its on.
Use vise grips, clamp them onto the spark arrestor and then tap the vise grips with a hammer, mine came right out...
k, i tried mine sort of warmed up, i just didnt want to torq it around and break somthing...
I had to run my machine for about 5 minutes before I could manually wiggle/yank it out with pliers. Took a while. Mine was in there really tight. Makes your machine a lot louder. With Power Commander, GYRT high glow air intake with air box lid off, and spark arrestor removed your machine will have a lot more juice!
I got mine out and thought it was too loud too because I ride near town. I tried the Phoenix Spark Arrestor, it has a rich sound and goes from a stock 5/8" opening to 1 3/4" so its similar to having no arrestor at all. On EBay search "700R Performance Exhaust Insert". If anyone has an opinion on this insert or knows anything good or bad, re-post.
I just grabbed mine and yanked! Man the sound with it out is awesome. I may not even do an exhaust now!

LMFAO Who am I kidding
holy freaking shit, i was at home for lunch, and was bored, so i thought i would take out my sparky to see how it sounded,(still havn't done the big 3) .ya know just curious,.. i couldn't get it out, i let it warm up for a bit and reved it up and even put my feet on the axle and sat on a chair, and gave it all my might, and i can bench about 300lbs so i'm no weenie, but now i feel like 1!!, i pulled the grips off of 2 pairs of pliers..cheap ass tools...but yea, it was a no go, i lost the big bolt cuz i took that one out first without thinking, but after i removed the proper bolt and gave it all my might,,,.nothing, i'll have to try again tomarrow, it will be to late to start my quad in my apartment when i get home...i wonder how pisssed my neighbors would get if i cruise around at 9pm with no sparky :grin_nod: i'm such a little devil :satan:
should i just go to the dealer for the big bolt? i forgot what it's called...i can't imagine it's more than a couple bucks if that...
Just let it run for a good while...let the pipes and muffler heat up and expand then it should freely come out with the allen screw removed....if not ..get a small butane torch or propane which ever you prefer then heat up around the spark arrester and it will come out.... Dont take it to a dealer for this simple thing...they'll do the same thing... Heat is your best friend here!!!

yeah, this 700R Performance Exhaust Insert, looks like a good product, i dont' have my big 3,but would like some more sound, i know i should have a efi cont before i do any of those mods, but would this matter if i put it on instead of my stock arrestor?would it cause me to run rich/lean?
It would be better if you had the EFI but dont necessarily need it with the Phoenix arrestor. Yamaha claims you can remove the baffle/arrestor and airbox lid without having to adjust the EFI, but because the system already runs a little lean a lot of people dont like making any adjustments without the controller. Either way the controller isnt a bad idea whether you're changing anything or not. It all comes down to your preference and how you feel comfortable. Right now I am running the Phoenix arrestor and an EHS lid without the controller on.
I actually think that any more mods than that without adjusting the EFI voids a warranty. If thats true then Yamaha must stand behind the ability of running without a controller with the arrestor out and airbox lid off (at least for 6 months anyway). I may not be correct on that but I am pretty sure I either read or heard that somewhere. Anyone know for sure?
ok, so i let it warm up for a long time, and i wiggled it and FINALLY got the damn thing out, , and i rode it at lunch in my apartment and it is alot louder, sounds pretty good...i'll proably put it in if i go anywhere riding, i kinda bent up the end a little bit, not much, just a little uglier now.. oh and i had the lid off for the quick ride.. hope my engine doesn't fall apart now!!>.haha, nah i put the lid back on, i just wanted to see what it was like...

ahahaa, i mean my apartment complex, it's pretty big, it's shaped in a big U, i'd say about the size of a football field and a half. also i keep it on my patio,so while i was watching tv with a co worker i let it warm up really good, then he watched me do some wheelies up and down, he heard it before and after and was very impressed, i can't do any widening because it barley fits threw my patio door as it is, has like no room at all left over, the tires barrrley fit threw it..
Ok guy's here is a fool poof way of getting it out.

Remove the bolt and keep it safe,

Remove the Spark plug lead and turn the motor over for about 5/10 seconds, put the lead back on the plug then turn it over again wait for the back fire it will come out at high speed so keep everyone back   :grin_nod:

I took my arrester out cut all the mesh and sh!t off and just put the tip back in shouldnt need remapping and gives a quicker throttle

Just an idea

:)
