Hey guys, i now have the case cracked and the gears out and i cant find anything wrong. Second gear was skipping a lot and i thought there would be something obvious to fix. Any suggestions?
Look carefully at the shift dogs on 2nd gear and its mates on the shaft. If they're the least bit rounded on the edges they can slip... also check the 2nd gear shift fork for slop or bending as 03 suggested.
Yeah the same exact thing happened to me! when i examened all the old gears, and old shift forks, it was all in good condition. I replaced it with all new parts and i got second gear back. I have no idea what was wrong with the old parts :banghead: :banghead:
One of the shift forks did have some abnormal wear on it but nothing looked bent. I will inspect the dawgs closer and go through everything again. If i were to just replace it all, would it be better to buy yukon gears or buy a used set.
