The carrier takes the same size bearing on both ends, so why the different size oil seal? It looks like the inner diameter is the same and the outer diameter is what is different.....enlighten me

The two sizes still don't make sense....but anyway, I was fortunate and had a bearing shop nearby and was able to get the bearings and both seals for under 25 bucks.

Well the brake hub has to be larger than the sprocket hub so it can slide over it to reach the other side of the axle. It being larger, requires a larger seal. The sprocket hub is smaller so it doesn't slide past the center of the axle.

Seems like they could have made the seals the same if they wanted to, but they didn't.

I have no idea if this is accurate, just the way I (and budweiser) see it.

EDIT: The hubs are different sizes and the seals ride on the hubs, so they have to be different sizes.

Who knows......not that important, I guess.....just thought it was wierd that the outside diameter of the seals are different, yet it takes the same bearing on both sides
