theres been alot of posts about crashing so i figured id talk about mine and hopefully get a bunch of other people to chip in and tell a storie. it could be funny, a lesson, or just a quick read... why not right

so me and my buddy were riding out at maytown of I95 in central florida and we met up with a guy who had a pred for sale.. i think it was a pred anyway, cant really remember. he gets uppidy about how hes worked his buns off on this thing and how no one can ever keep up. so of course me and my buddy are like hell yea were gonna take this on, were young and stupid. so we are off and instantly he gets all over it on the trails. well when he quickly realizes that he cant keep up with are rappys, hes full of excuses on why his is having problems. so were riding everywhere we know and some places we dont. as were headed back about an hour later, we hit the main stretch and take off one last time, this time im leading and i can really get all over it for the guy, so he can turn his boat ancor in later on lol. well i leave them big time and right at the end of the trail, i hit the top of a whoop and im thrown off the side around 50mph. i have the handlebars in death grip and when i go to pull myself back on the bike, it turns and me and the rappy seperated ways. as i watch it flip over and over its head, i start flipping and end upside down agains a tree, and the quad is off in the woods. i broke the subframe, headlight, airbox, and throttle assembly. the only thing wrong with me was a pair of brand new pants torn at the special area big enought to give birth to yokozuma out of. after that i was so pissed i decided to try and do wheelies, well i sat it on its butt and dragged it on concrete for about 75 to 100ft. all in all a bad day

anyone else got any stories?

from a little while back.......still in need of the radiator but here it is again.......its so funny when i actually picture all this as i read it.......LOL

so i make a weekend getaway from my apartment in Breese, IL to my parents house in Troy, MO. all is well saturday night and on till sunday afternoon........thats when all hell breaks loose. one of my brothers is on a class trip to Colorado and the other is home and ready to take the 400ex and my rap700 out for some trail riding. we went searching and found some really badass trails which made us happy.........no more having to ride at the same place over and over again. we hooked up with his two friends (brothers also) from down the road (both having matching 450 r's). we took them out to the trails we had found........thye thought they were awesome! we come to a sandbank on the side of a creek and stop for a break. one of the brothers said that he saw some people up on top of the bluff to our right looking at us. we figure that its time to go since we dont know if this is their property or not. as were heading back out down the trail we see a pair of 4 wheeler lights flying down from the bluff.........GO GO GO!!!!!!!!! so the brothers are in front, followed by my brother and me (yeah im last but who cares) we come up out of a ditch and have to make an immediate left to get on the main trail.......brother one.....brother 2.....my brother.....LOOKOUT!!!!!!! im going too fast and cant make the turn...........can you guess what happens?

well if you cant..........just picture 3 people making a left and one totally jumping the trail and flying to the other side of the ditch. yeah im cool like that! as i come to a stop i notice that im not on my 4 wheeler........but when i look to my right i can see it slowly.........VERY SLOWLY getting ready to roll over frontwards..........i reach for the grab bar.............TOO LATE!!!!! it slides and topples to a hault at the bottom.........i slide down to it and cuddle up in a ball..........here comes the guy on the 4 wheeler thats chasing us!!! he flys past me........IM LIKE YES!!!!!!!!! he continues to chase my brother and his friends..........i hear them hit the cornfield and they are gone! the guy turns around and i can hear him heading back my way.........what do i find? i landed not even 3 feet from an old stone tunnel..........wow! now i think to myself........its 5 ft tall by about 4 ft wide........SHE WILL FIT!!!!!!!!! i roll my rappy into the tunnel and take a seat hoping for the best.........the guy flys over the top of the tunnel and heads back up the bluff...........IM SAFE!!!!!!!!! lol i wait about 10 minutes and roll the rappy out of the tunnel and get her started and fly home to my parents. it was then that i realized the damages:

right headlight bracket snapped (headlight is fine just hanging by the wires so i need a new bracket)
radiator is kinda of smashed and pushed to one side........but theres a bracket on the bottom of it and the bracket is broke........leaving a hole and the fluid is totally leaking out........well actually its gone lol and my engine temp light is on

so now that you know the story.........do any of you have a spare radiator that you wouldnt mind selling? i know some peeps go for a bigger better radiator and just have the old stock one laying around.........any of you??? when i take it in to get fixed.......i can just bring the one i buy from whoever has one and get it put on. now the bike is on warranty for 4 years but i dont think that they cover for a wreck do they???

please if anyone could get back to me id be greately appreciated!!!

This one is a lesson why you shouldn’t ride alone and why you should have your equipment mechanically sound. I had acquired a 93 Yamaha wr 500 (yz 490). I had been riding for most of my life and participated in a couple hare & hound races and would place in the middle of the pack so I like to think I could ride but I was never a big jumper. Well the town folk had a homemade track about 5 miles from my house in the middle of the woods that had double about 35’ that I would always abort. Usually I go out and someone would be there or show up but this day nobody did. This day I felt great and traction was perfect, the bike was running awesome ….aside from a sticky throttle cable that had plagued me all winter, but I had intentions of fixing it ….only take 10 min. But in the winter it would stick sometimes in the mud, I would just wick the throttle and unstuck it no biggy. I got the balls to jump, and did about 10 times, man it felt great. There was a whoop section right after the jump so when you landed you need to be back on the fender. On the next jump the throttle stuck on landing….instant power band…I don’t know how many of you have rode a 500cc 2 stroke bike but they pull like nobody’s business. Out of habit I wicked the throttle….it stayed stuck full open this time …I couldn’t hang on about 20’ into the whoops. Thrown off violently ….Tore both of my MCLs , broke my foot and ankle, tore all the carledge up in the sternum. I had on knee cups and a good set of O’Neil boots. I lay there making a few tears….I thought I broke both of my legs…then I realized I was alone. Scared me bad enough to get up and find my bike … sub frame bent 90 deg, handle bars bent down between the right fork tube and tank….so it would only turn left. I would usually ride to the track but decided to trailer this day. Good thing …who knows when I would have been found. I don’t know to this day how I got the streangth to get it in the trailer. Ran all the stop signs home.. leg didn’t work good enough to use the clutch….Wife found me on the stairs about an hour latter…couldn’t get up them….real bad feeling . Took months to heal . About a month off work.

Ive been riding dirtbikes for about 6 years or so, and for the last 2 years or so I had been doing more and more freestyle. Behind my house I have a few freestyle jumps, my favorite was a 45 foot or so double. The jump was built at a slight angle to the landing so there'd be enough room to build another jump further back but use the same landing. I had been hitting that jump for about a year before I decided to build the bigger one. Finished it early September last summer (I only have a mid sized tractor with a blade so it takes a while to build jumps), but kept hitting the smaller one for a couple weeks while I worked up the courage to hit the 75 footer. Last day of September I decided it was the day, I wanted to hit this jump before the snow came. I took a ton of practice runs with a friend watching and we decided I had the right speed. When I went to actually go hit it, I felt like I was going too fast and let off the throttle a bit. Whoops. As I came off the lip of the jump I knew I was going to come up short but stayed on the bike, I was hoping my front wheel would make it over the back of the landing. When I realized it wasnt going to, I bailed, but it was too late. My feet made it to about handlebar height, my bike hit the ground, and I piled into the bike again, then the top of the landing, then rolled down the side of it. I was knocked out for a couple seconds, and didnt realized what just happened, then I felt the pain in my left wrist and left knee.

I told my friend to get his truck from up at my house, and when he got back, him, my brother, and mom helped me get into his truck and drive up to the house. I dont like hospitals, and try to avoid them, so they helped me get into my house and ice my wrist and knee. I had hit my head so hard I wasnt really thinking straight, so I decided to sleep it off. Woke up the next morning still in extreme pain, but because of hitting my head so hard, I decided to still go to work. I was a parts driver at the time so it didnt really affect me, but when my boss found out, she threatened to fire me if I didnt go to the hospital haha. My knee and wrist were both double their normal size. At the hospital, they didnt really take me seriously at first cause I walked (limped) in, and it had happened the day before. But it turned out I tore a lot of cartilage in my knee, broke my arm, and tore a bunch of ligaments in my wrist. Thats the most injuries Ive had in one crash.

Although thats not the reason why, I dont do any freestyle or much big jumping at all anymore. Plus now I have my Raptor, and so far have a lot more fun on that. No bad crashes on it yet, the only crash at all was sliding into my friend on his Raptor the second day after buying mine and breaking his taillight.

great story to learn from oil, thats the main reason why i never ride solo, wayyy to dangerous.... who knows when you gonna be found.

end, even though hospitals do suck, smell, and take forever, they aways come in handy when it comes to broken bones eh?

great stories fellas

I think the knees are the worst...i had broken bones, I've actually had a tree fell on me that didnt feel near as bad as the torn MCLs
Yeah Ive broken lots of bones and tore lots of ligaments/cartilage/tendons, and Id definitely rather break a bone than tear something. Bones heal much quicker.

My poor baby hasnt riden the same after this accident.. It was a couple months back. My buddies and I all wanted to go for a night ride. Thought it was a good idea at the time, and my girlfriend wanted to go also. Unfortunatly I was replacing the clutch on her raptor 350 so she had to ride double. Anyways, The place where we ride we have to go through a small trail all swamp lands. So Luckily I had my girlfriend ride on the back of my buddies 4X4. After the swamp we end out on a long dead end road, probably close to a mile long. The kid who's house we left is afraid of getting caught. So he told us on the straight away to keep the head lights off. (we could still see). So I get to the straight away, shut the lights off. My buddy was probably a good 300 feet ahead of me on his 300ex. Well i got on it and was 5th gear wide open, my trail tech said i was doing 73mph (dont know if thats accurate) But I caught up to him real fast, I was about 30 feet behind him and started slowing down where out of no where I locked up the brakes and attempted to turn around not knowing i was not too far behind him, so I locked mine up as well and attempted to swerve around him. My left wheel and bumper hit is rim at around 45mph, I did a barrel role still holding on the the bike, then I let go and just saw my bike doing sommersaults across the cement. After I checked myself and asked my buddie if he was all right I checked my bike. I was lucked. All that happened to the bike was bent rear bar, smooshed front bumper, bent handle bars, bent rim, bent upper a arm, scratched plastics, and it didnt start for a couple minutes. All that happened to me was a couple fractured ribs, bruised legs and cut up arms, I guess my ribs hit the handle bars. All that happened to his bike was a bad rim, broken air box, and broken plastics. And he fractured his ankle.. Bad night but luckily I didnt have my girlfriend on the back. Oh and then on the way back to the house, my girl had to drive my buddie back on the 4X4 and ended up going off a small bridge into the swamp so we had to pull them out as well ( she didnt know how to ride a 4X4 with out a clutch) .. Talking about a bad night. not as bad as my last crash when I was about 14 I cased a jump on my dirtbike and my knee bent the opposite way at my knee cap and shattered it. That hurt. plus being in a cast the whole summer sucks

well i have to wreck stories to share, my first has to do with my first wheeler i ever had it was a yamaha warrior and i had been riding if for about a year and one night i went riding with my uncle and cousin on trails i had never been before and so im told i was moving at a good clip and i missed a corner and smacked into a tree which destroyed the wheeler and almost me to i flew off the bike and slammed into the tree in doing so i broke my arm in 4 places and fractured the bone in my face right under my eye, this made for the biggest black eye youve ever seen it was the whole right side of my face LOL the reason i say so im told is because until this day i still dont remember a thing due to a minor concusion that made me forget everything that happend the wheeler needed a new frame a arms and a whole lotta other parts but it ran again. My second accident is more recent i was rippin it up with the ole rappy 700 and took it up the local sand pit and i was in a wheelie going up the pit wall and i set it down right before the top of the wall (you can just go up and over cause its just a hill side with trees at the top) and it was a lil to late, front tire clipped the top of the hill and tipped the wheeler on the side, threw me off and as i looked up i saw the rear tire coming down on my head i got up as fast as i could and luckly grabbed the wheeler after it rolled only once and saved it from going down the rest of the hill it only suffered some scratches on the fenders and brake, throttle covers so i made out pretty good. Hopfully the future doesnt hold anymore accidents for me id appreciate it anyway :grin_nod:

Well first of all i feel really bad bought what happened to my buddy....But heres the story. A buddy of mine who just got a warrior and thinks hes a badass and runs his mouth bout everything. These younger boys (AGE 12-15) ride dirtbikes sometimes when we go out riding, well they round the house with there bikes YZ85. My buddy is over there lookin at the bike. I ride atvs not dirt bikes, but i was telling those younger boys that i was bought to show them how to ride. And i knew that this would make my buddy be like ohh hell naw im bought to show him. So he gets on it just like i knew he would. He got on it and nailed the gas on concrete, switched to second, front-end went straight up and he fell off screaming in agony. Winds up with torn ACL and broken leg. THIS GOES TO SHOW YOU THAT JUST BC YOU THINK YOU CAN MAN HANDLE SOMETHING DONT MEAN YOU CAN><><><><>ALSO YOU SHOULD JUST TAKE IT EASY WHEN GETTING ON A DIFFERENT ANIMAL>>>>
