Last summer some kid contacted me needing cash for his YZ250. I was like sure since I and gave him $225. He wanted 400 but lets face it I pay what I want too and it needed more then just "a new engine case" They always do lol.

Got this clean 87 in.

I started building it up stairs in the house. I kept doing that until it got bigger. One day I carried it down the steps and into the garage.

I was not sure if the gold was going to work with the colors I picked so i had hubs and rims powder coated black. I replaced them myself and put on new tires. Next was shocks rebuilt at the race shop. Most of the factory plastics cleaned up nice with purple power. I might be getting rid of the black front end for white. As much as I like black its starting to burn me out. Just like the seat is being red might go black. I work on this a few hours a week.

Top end was sent out to www.eric-gorr.com to be bored, ported for woods riding and have power valve serviced. He has done other motors for me and is great at it and pretty fair on price. I am waiting for top end to be done and currently redoing the bottom end. When the kid busted a hole in the case aluminum went every ware. I found some in the crank bearings so I removed them. All engine hardware was replaced with allen head stainless steel bolts. I hate Phillips head screws.

Since I have months now due to broken foot this one will get be done slowly. I have 4 machines I am working on currently, some need done sooner then others.

Some will say the bike is old and is junk. I redo the old stuff because by the time I buy a bike thats 5-7 years old its going to be tired, it will need the same thing done. It will cost me more and well the 80's stuff is just cool.

Finally got my crank apart. Bearings are done in cases, feel ok on the rod but $60 makes it all new. Foolish to now replace while in there. Hope to button up the bottom end in a few weeks after I order new rod kit.

Got in my new IMS connecting rod kit. I have to run it over the shop to press in the crank friday...Should not be too long now before I can get motor together.

Shop is going to balance and true my crank. This should last another 30 years.

All new stainless steel bolts holding motor together. New reeds, reed holder screws & clutch fibers still needed. Should be able to get some of that Saturday local. I still need a new FMF fatty pipe. I repacked my silencer last night. I might need a gear shifter, I have a few that were saved off bikes parted out. Just need to finish it by April 1. Still do not like the front suspension so that needs revalved or new lighter springs due to my weight.

Motor is bolted in but learned I must be missing a few lower radiator hoses. Kid I got it off must of lost them since I do not have any in my YZ stash. Off to eBay unless some spare hoses will work.

1/30/2017 - Needed a new carb bowl drain bolt. Ebay special order.
1/31/2017 - Chem dipped carb, cleaned it up & connected all electronics.
2/1/2017 - Drilled out washers to space bark busters on throttle side in event of crash and stuck throttle & boiled carb.
2/2/2017 - Will reassembly carb with SS all head bolts for bowl screws.
2/4/2017 - Ordered new carb bowl gasket, bowl drain screw o-ring and kick starter nut.

Need clutch, exhaust springs & FMF fatty pipe. Then it is ready to climb some coal hills come april!

Got clutch cable and would not mount up right. Found out there was a missing ring clip need to hold it to the motor. Throttle cable guy ordered me one for 1995...had to order an 83-88 one so that still is not finished. Cleaned rest of carb slide up but dead in the water with it until I get a chain next week, some exhaust springs and order my pipe. Off to another bike until then.

none are restorations...just redos I will ride, only bike that may get sold or traded off is the YZ250. However did 4 bikes at once after I broke my foot. Nearly all are about done for this season now.

I redid my wifes 05 KFX700 (the one atv that does it all)
I serviced m 08 KFX450R in which I have sold to a friend who is doing weekly payments of $125 (shitty seating positing is why it left)
I claimed the 660 as mine so the 450R could go (super comfortable bike)
I am finishing the YZ250 I picked up last summer by accident...the way its turned out I kinda don't wanna ride it now, it got pretty nice.

Normally I build 1-2 bikes a years ground up. This year will stop due to my wife having a new baby so I have more time to spend with them. I wanted to get everything ready to go and out of the garage I did not want before the new baby comes. I even killed my ebay biz so I have more time.

2-23-2017 update

Correct throttle cable installed
OEM front number plate put on
Picked up a NOS UFO white 00-05 front fender. The black 92-99 front stuff was burning me out big time. I sold it to a friend with a 99 YZ125 in need of new plastics...looks better on his.
