Sounds like it could be a choke issue. Have you tried adjusting the choke until it clears up? Is the Zoom Zoom carb a Chinese carb? If so a lot of the stuff has quirks here and there. You may have to decide if you can live with it for the money or spend a lot more for a factory one and have it run like it should all the time.
