Hello, I will be installing the big 3 this weekend this will be my first big 3 installation and I was just wondering if there is anything I should look for before installing or any links to show instructions how to install the big 3, I have the barkers dual, PC5 with timing and the FCI intake, thx to TQS atv for the fast shipping.
Any help would be appreciate it.
Thank you.:)

I would just say this! Install the exhaust very loossly then thighten gradually here and there to adjust fittment!

I'd mention the header studs where the header hooks onto the head... These can be a bit stubborn. Be careful untightening them and use heat if they aren't budging. I've seen those break pretty often.

When I installed my Barkers I had to put heat tape on the left side harness going into the stator. I tried to get away without it but it started to melt the wires......not a good thing!

For the exhaust, I'd like to add spraying those studs down with PB Blaster for the next couple of days & use a lil anti-sieze when you put them back on, that way it prevents a future issue.

No. There is a gasket inside the head that you can pop out. I never bothered with it, had 2 pipes and reused the stock ones and never had an issue.

The studs holding these often break, so be gentle with them and use heat if they don't cooperate.

After installing the pc5 barker and intake, I start it up and evreything was good, so I put the plastic back on to take it for a ride and it didnt want to start it does like a ticking noise when I try to start it and the headlights turns on and off, anyone know what might be the problem? oh and the pc5 status light flickers red when i try to start it but the power light is green.

Quick question, do any of the vendors sell a big 3 kit with a tune based on the mods ordered? I hope I asked that right? Like if ya order a duals, intake & PC5 combo can they upload a tune based on those mods?

Yes TQS tech quad shop will but it will probably be very basic to the big 3 you purchased. Dynoing it will be you best bet after its all installed. I dont know for the other vendors if they pre map the PC5 i bet they do!

I really hope I'm not throwing this thread off topic but I think these questions are relative to the thread subject. Anyhow, I considered the MSD, they've always made quality components in the auto world. Looks like their controller works along similar principles as far as doing your own tune + it has 10 preset tunes to choose from. Prolly one of them would get close until I could get it worked out. Do any of you guys use the MSD? It looks a lil pricey so is it worth the additional money?

The MSD and the new PC5 are actually "combo" controllers that have a programmable ignition module integrated in them. Before these models came out you had to get the two units individually and the combined cost was significantly more than what these combo units cost now. Both the PC5 and MSD were available without this before (at a lower price), I don't know if it's still the case.

As for which is best between the MSD and PV5 w/ ignition control, I have no clue, I'll let others chip in on that one.

i will be getting the Powercommander as they have a shop and dyno here in Las Vegas. which means i can have Dynojet tune my bike right down the street. :)

I am having a hell of a time deciding what to get for the exhaust and intake for my bike. unfortunately money isn't unlimited. I am considering an HMF full kit, but they don't have a heat sheild and i don't want to melt all my $100+ riding pants. The DMC is so spendy. I like the prodesign kit for intake, but want the FCI kit. I am just not sure the FCI kit w/ box is really worth $200 more than the prodesign kit. my bike is all stock and i dont have any big plans for it in the future.

Unplug the pc5 and plug it back in stock see if it runs that way. If so your pc5 is bad send it to dynojet they'll send you another one with same map. I had one do that to me same symptoms run fire 10 minutes shut down.

You're gonna have to tweak the map, man. I'm sure someone else Will chime in with more details but typically mail order tunes/maps aren't dead on for anything, they're ballpark. Coincidentally they might nail it down for some folks depending on weather, elevation, etc but typically it'll need tweaking. Most people are gonna say put it on a dyno if ya want it nailed down just right. Have you tried contacting tqs to see what they say?

Yes it is. Its always better running richer than lean.
