Is it worth buying a 700 coming from a 660?

I ride a '05 Raptor 660 with lots of bolt ons including a full LRD exhaust and K&N intake. I've been through a lot with my quad, but recently I've been thinking of getting something that handles better. I added a +2-4 axle which helped a lot, but the suspension is getting worn out, and it still pushes like a mofo when cornering in the sand. I was wondering if you guys think there is a great enough improvement in the 700 to sell the 660 for put the money down on the 700.

I'm also looking hard at the KTM 525/450 XC ATV and the KFX450.

Otherwise I figure $2200 would buy we the needed suspension components to make the 660 handle better. Don't know if I'm willing to sink that kind of money into it though...

Thanks for any input.

I was in your shoes almost two years ago. I had an '04 raptor 660 with some mods done. But it still didn't handle for crap and I didn't want to dump thousands into it to make it handle better. I ended up selling my 660 and put that money down on a 700. In the end, it costed me $2500 to get the 700. I have zero regrets on that decision I made two years ago. If you are in doubt, find someone that has one and see if they will let you test it out. There is quite a difference between them.

I too come from an 03 660r...and an 04 yfz450.....if you took the best about both of them and blended it together, thats the 700! Best quad I have owned yet! :)

The Wife got her 700 first. . . couldn't wait to sell the 660. I (we actually) hated those carbs on the 660.

I got mine a little over a year ago (coming from a heavily modified DS650). I don't have the power I had in my DS but, I have enough. This ATV is much more nimble and a lot lighter.

The Fuel Injection on the 700 is awesome. I'll never go back to a carb.

i'm kind of in the same situation as you, but it's a toss up between 700 rappy and yfz for me. It all depends if i can sell my bike, if i can ill get a used 700 at my dealer, if i can't ill trade it in for a new yfz
Good Luck on whatever you do!

How is the handling compared to the 660? I went to the dunes once and rode a friend's stock Z400. Both my 660 and the Z had 8 paddle haulers. The Z400 handles better and was WAY easier to slide around. This surprised me due to the difference in power. Does the 700 like to pitch sideways in the sand a lot more than the 660?

No, the 700 is a MUCH better ride than the 660. The 700's chassis was based off of the yfz, and it shows why.

not even to compare it to. I was killing my 3 buddies with their basic modded 660s when mine was stock. When the pcIII and pro design went on it was really not even fun anymore to race them. Now with the 11:1, duals, hc stg 2, and +2 swinger i will just mess with them and mis shift on purpose and still get them..lol

My only concern about getting a 700 is.... well, i'm still a youngin and don't have the cash money to afford one, so yes i need a loan. And when school starts thats part time work then. For me to do mods on a 700, i need pc3, $250+vs $50 jet kit for yfz. That is a big thing for me. May seem dumb to you guys, but it's a difference for me.
