i got a raptor and after 2 days of riding my retarded neightbor came to me complaining about the sound it was making, and i told her i was gonna get a quiter exaust cap for the gytr exhaust the raptor came with but she didnt wanna wait and not finding anything to complain about, looked up the city codes and filed a complaint that i wasnt riding 100feet or yards(not sure which one) away from a creek in my backyard. so the guy from the city came down and said i cant ride anymore, i just dont get it though, its MY backyard, i have 5 acres of land and i cant ride because of a small creek in the veryy back of my property? i was wondering if this is right, cuz my other neighbor has kids that ride dirtbikes all the time in their backyard and he like completely covered the creek on his side of the property with gravel.
BTW i live in EVERETT WASHINGTON if anyone lives here maybe you can help me out

you cant see much of the property here but most of it is visible, here a little video me and my friend and his little bros made before she complained lol

Not sure of your state laws but I have never heard of not being able to ride near a creek. I live by a creek and ride in it all the time.

Sound like crap to me. I think you might get it trouble for riding in the creek, but if you own this land up to the water I am pretty sure you are well within your rights as a land owner to do whatever you want. If you are close to town I am sure you have sound lasw but the are only in effect after 9 or 10 pm to 6 or so in the morning. You should always be courteous to your neibor but if they are not resonable oh well. PS GET A HELMENT!!!

Post a copy of the ordinance and I will look for the leupold, if there is one. I know one thing for now. And, that's if "the man" from the city came down and told you not to, unless you are willing to spend a whole lot of money to "be right," I wouldn't do it for now until you can find the leupold, and re-visit the man with your case.

Other than that, your neighbor lady sounds like she needs a good F^%$(n. I hate neighbors like that. For now, I'd suggest you sign her up for every gay and lesbian magazine (bill me later) and any other magazine you can find. It won't solve much but it will make you feel better. :)

Yes get the city ordinance, it probably has something to do with the wild life, crawdads or something, me personally I would mark off the distance from the creek that's legal and raise cane which is prob. Gunna be closer to her house

Did you accually see a copy of the law? Who's the guy from the City? Did he have ID?

ok well i dont really know were to look for it but here are my cities rules,
http://srch.mrsc.org:8080/code/template.htm;jsessionid=B44EA16E9D5EA0CA7A2F1E1064CD0DA3?view=main

no i didnt ask for id but the website i post with the city rules has a phone number that i called to ask if its ok to ride at my house and the guy was like, do you live on 7th ave, i said yes, he said: i was already there today talking to someone and you do not have permission to ride on that property, i got really mad and told him to chill the f out, and he said, you do not have my permission to ride there and hung up.

I live in Oregon and this state has laws regarding riding through creeks and water. However, this is regarding crossing through or altering the flow of water. There is usually a set distance that you must stay back. I believe that this is called a "raparian set-back code" or something like that. It also is different for year round creeks vs. seasonal creeks.

I can`t imagine that with 5 acres, you shouldn`t be able to ride your own property, as long as you stay out of the creek. Go the the local planning and resource dept............They will have the rules for `ya.

PS....Craig.........I think you mean " loop hole "....not leupold....but, maybe it`s a regional thing.....lol.

Idea, find out when your next city council meeting is ,if he is a city official reqeust the city to have him there and send a lettr to your neighbor and confront the both of them in front of the public and the council members and have them explain the ordinance or they will be forced to call B.S. on it

#16 ·
lol i dont really wanna go that far, but ya that raparian set-back sounds like the guy was telling me, that i have to be like 100 feet away from the creek and he also told me i ruined the creekbed by making a trail 15ft away from it

A hundred feet sounds a little high.....But, Washington could be stricter than Oregon. I would still check out what the codes really are.....mark your distance accordingly....And then ride outside those areas and tell your neighbor how much you appreciate her helping you with this....lol.

Sorry if I seem childish but I would have to find out what time the disturbing the peace laws start at night, here it is 11:00pm, I would be out there from 10:00 to 10:45 every night until she left me alone or moved

I saw leupold and thought of my rifle scope and thought we were gonna start shootin :)

INcase you havent noticed, we live in a hippy tree huggin liberal state, and ESPECIALLY on that side of the mountains. I come from Redmond. We have land out in unincorperated king county out behind union hill. We CANNOT TOUCH 65% of the land. It has to stay "natural"...this isnt wetlands or anything, this is just normal woods that is privately owned. Now get this, we pay taxes on 100% of the acreage, but are only aloud to use/ disturb 45% of it...LOL..and even then, there are so damn many rules you basically dont "own the land"...you just rent it and pay taxes. Its ridiculous.
So as far as it being "your land".....HA!!! ...not in this state, and CERTAINLY not on that side of the state.
Im over in spokane now cause I got stationed at Fairchild AFB, its not nearly as bad...YET....but we are all slowly drifting east toward Idaho and Montana.

Good luck with your neighbor, I know the exact type she is. Good luck with being a land 'owner' here too.... ;)

FL woods makes a good point.......If where you live, you have CC&R`s....which stands for Covenants, Conditions & Resrtictions....that dictate how you can use your property.....you may have to check. You would have received these ( If you have them on your property ) when you bought your property.

You are right....keep a cool head and don`t get into a fight, if you don`t have to....But, if you have no restrictions and it`s not against the law....You should not have to follow the dictates of a petty gov`t person. Just make sure you know your rights first.

....more than likely its local government or state. Its not surprising here in WA. :(

Keep it legal , but be a thorn right back is what I say, but if you do have those restrictions your just screwed, got 5 acres and can't even ride on it.Crap I say, just Crap

I've had enough cops come out and tell me BS, every weekend at my old house. And then every once in a while a cop would come out and tell the truth. My neighbor used to chase me around with his Decibal meter, just flipped him the bird, and rode away on a wheelie. Not that you should do that, but really find out what the real rules are.... and if it's a true rule then find a way around it, don't let her win. Alas, I moved to a house with no Yard :-/ How I used to roll....

lol

dude, it cracks me up that your neighbor is comin after you with a decibel reader. LMAO. SOOOOOO, does she do that with EVERY SINGLE HARLY DAVIDSON that goes by that is way louder than your raptor? Oh wait, cause those are street legal and society says its ok, we dont worry about those. Thats 'ok'

My buddy has a KTM 530 super moto, with an akrapovic exhaust. Lady down the street was saying how we cant ride dirtbikes on the street. I laughed and pointed at the license plate. :)

haha thats funny I did the same thing on my 1974 Kawasaki H1-500, its a three cylinder 2stroke that sounds awesome. neighbor chased me down saying he was going to call his son (a cop) on me. I said go ahead its legal!! and smoked off... i love street legal 2stroke

Any decibel meter you get at wal-mart is going to be way off anyway. We just got our quads street legal a couple years ago and still take heat every night we go cruising on them. It gets to the point its almost not worth riding them.

Just set your idle high and let it sit in the driveway every night idling away loudly.

If she thinks one quad is bad, y dont you have a riding party out there? 10 or so riding around. The only thing i would say is there might be a noise ordance for certain times of the day/night. You should invite some of the local rock bands out to have a concert, now that would be noise lol. Do sign her up for all the porn avaliabe, i know its mean but it sounds like she needs it.

I've done all of the following as well :D Hooked up the PA and jammed, as well as porn in the mailbox LOL.... but let's include open header drag cars and Lightning Sprints as well :D

Unfortunately some people are just this way. I try to be civil with anyone that wants to be civil with me. Or possibly deal with your neighbor conditions and times for you to ride in the backyard? I've done that with neighbors and have worked real well. I've only had one neighbor that wasn't having any of it, so we had to let him have it.

Try to work with her, make a deal, that's usually a good way to work through things with a neighbor.

Haha I like the idea of subscribing to magazines that is some funny sh*t. I know what you guys mean about the harleys also. I dont think a single one in town has a muffler. Yet the quad guys take heat for them being loud.
