Hey guys, I have no laptop & I'd like to purchase one in the future. Basically, I just need something to tune from, doesn't have to be very fancy, just functional & reliable. I'm no "techy" so I was hoping to get some suggestions from you guys, thanks.

should be pretty easy to pick up a laptop for tuning. Those programs don't require much to run. I'm sure you should be able to get something brand new in the $400-$500 range. I would stay with the better brand names HP, Toshiba, Sony, Samsung maybe. You can get either a AMD or Pentuim processor and either way won't matter for basic computer use. You should be in the 4gb for memory, pretty standard. It may have 2gb if it's a cheap price, but it may have 8gb (which is max for most). I wouldn't worry about hard drive space as external and thumb drives are cheap now. I have a 1.5tb external, and it was only $130. that is TONS of space.

You can search the net for good deals. I got my HP for 25% off with a coupon i found online. But you can try Office depot, Office max, best buy, Fry's, Egghead.com, tigerdirect.com and HP.com or many others.

I agree with RAP_Rider on his points. I would also suggest an ASUS or MSI as potential options, They are great computers. Newegg.com is also a great place to look. you can pick up a non fancy basic laptop that would do you great for under 400 dollars easy.

Get a ASUS thats all i will ever buy, they are cheap but run awesome and have alot of options, mine has a 500gb hardrive with 8gb ram and a blu ray burner with a 1080p led screen picked it up at bestbuy for 399 cant go wrong at that price, has a pentium processor, should have spent another 100 and got the I3 or I5 processor though.

If you want to be really cheap, look on eBay. I bet you can get one for $100 there. I have my old lap top I used for school that I use for tuning now. Only has 2 GB memory 130 GB hard drive and single core 1.3 GHz processor. Gets the job done.

Unless your wanting to change your tune out and about another option is to take an old desk top pc and put it in your garage as I did. I did it primarily for quick refrance while working on my molar. Now it also doubles as a tuning pc.

The crapiest laptop will work for what you want to do... Don't pay more than 2-300$ for a new one... Most places who sell 'em end up with old stock they want to get rid of for next to nothing, go for those.

eBay would be my very last stop! you don't know what other peoples problems your buying. HP has always been good to me, in fact I might have one for you. I just bought an Apple so I should be selling my HP soon. Been a good laptop to me, if your interested I will give you more on it.

Dell would be one of my first choices. Never had a problem with my xps or laptop
