Hey all I just rebuilt the top end of my 700. Today was the first start. It ran well for the first few heat cycles. Just running at idle and light load around the property. On the 3rd heat cycle it started make a louder tick not sounding quite right. After further inspection souds like its coming from the head more on the intake side. Below ill list all parts changed and what parts/ brand. I heard somewhere that it could be an injector tick. Any possibility or an exhaust leak at the header? Any input is much appreciated thanks.

Top end build
Timing chain- OEM
Timing chain guides (both) OEM
(Old tensioner working ok)
Cylinder - BPRATV
Piston / Rings - Wossner
Cylinder base gasket and head gasket - Cometic
Cylinder head resurfaced
Intake valves stock size - KPMI
Exhaust valves stock size - KPMI
valve seal, spring, washer, retainer - KPMI
camshaft reused
Rockers reused
Keepers reused
Exhaust gaskets - OEM

MOTUL mineral 10 w 40 used

Could be exhaust leak. Use a stethoscope or screwdriver as one and pinpoint the area. Double check torque on bolts now that you have a few heat cycles done.

Hey thanks for that advice. That is definitely a possibility. I have a bud who's a small engine mechanic. We're gonna go through it together. Definitely top end after he heard the video of it. Regarding the exhaust. There's some shiny part of either side of th header still sticking out, this made me think it wasn't pushed jn all the way however when I was building it, I must have taken it off and put it back on 2 times with new exhaust gaskets. So am pretty sure its all the way in. Regardless I can even go with some soapy water and see if it bubbles there. Head bolts were re torqued, valve lash re adjusted, no leaks anywhere that I can see. Next up is that pin point test with the stethoscope. Thanks for the advice ill update soon. Any other advice is always appreciated. Cheers
