I am selling my raptor. I am moving, my old lady is going into the military (Im glad she made the choice being a vet myself). I dont want to deal with moving it around. Its an 01 with the bad 2nd gear. It also has a bad stator and carrier bearings. I am probably replacing the stator and bearings before i sell it. But what can I expect to get with the bad second? Is it worth fixing? What would it be worth with it fixed. Id do all the work myself, probably try to find a cheap used 02 tranny. it has the fallowing mods. The back left fender is cracked along the bend but i wired together. Other than that its in really good shape.

101 mm bore; Wiesco 11:1 piston ; Hotcam Stage 3; Jetted (160 main unknown pilot or manufacturer); Durablue Eliminator; Aftermarket suspension; Aftermarket valves and springs; Peps steering stabilizer; Gytr nerf bars, heel guards; FMF pipe; White bros cannon; Pivot works carrier bearing; Aftermarket A arms; K&N cold air; Ims shifter; Rethnal handlebars; Aftermarket front bumper; Alarm and remote start

With a bad 2nd you might as well not bother replacing the one-way starter bearing. Running, a lightly modded 01 would bring $1800-2000 in good running shape (I consider yours lightly modded as much of the stuff changed is cosmetic or should have been replaced due to age). Being that the tranny needs fixing you can figure ~$250 for parts, plus labor.

As it sits I'd say $800. Fix the one-way with a good quality one would maybe... maybe bring you to $1000 with the bad tranny. People typically want it with tons of problems cheap or completely fixed.... if you fix one thing and not another that leads them to think that other stuff could be wrong too. It really depends on the market in your area.

If this is any help, I just purchased my 01 660 Raptor last spring for $1300, and it was in semi-running condition. It had some problems, wouldn't turn over when it was warm (owners did topend but forgot to reinstall the decomp pin). You have a lot of nice aftermarket parts on your ride, but unless someone can safely/comfortably drive it before they buy it, I'd say you'd be hard pressed to get $1200-1300 based on what I've seen in OH, KY, WV and IN.

upstate Ny, Corning area. Four wheelers with anything performance more than aftermarket a arms (usually cause the stock got bent), a slip on, and a k&n are rare. Occasionally you'll find em jetted. Its rare to see other four wheelers with any internal engine work. Ive seen one other raptor, two or three banshees and a handful of 400exs. Those were usually an aftermarket piston and HC 1 or 2 or once in a great while a big bore kit.

I see 01s with new or rebuilt trannys and 02s go for $2000 with nothing but a slip on and nerf bars around here. And they sell. Rarely see 700s at all. A lot of people are into Hondas. Almost bought a 400ex myself a few years back. Most people in this area are into building up dirtbikes or just getting 4x4s for hunting.

But looking for a 400 ex on cl for a buddy i saw an 04 raptor tranny for 135. Hear I come new tranny.
