my friend has a 660 motor forsale that i am thinking about buying but where the shifter gos on the rod is bent up and where the reverse cable connects is bent also but i think that is just the linkage, i think it got droped when he was takeing it out of the bike. Before he took it out it shifted and went into reverse fine. So the question is do you think its an easy fix just swap out shift shafts or could it have done dammage to the transmission? thanks for the advise

Most likely there is no damage, just look around the housing where the shafts come out and see if there is bending or housing damage, to change the reverse shifter the whole engine must be dismantled, to change the main gear shifter can be done from the RH side after you remove the clutch housing and clutch, BUT BOTH SHAFTS will have to be cut off as close to the case as possible to facilatate removal.
