Ground Wire?

Ok so after a long time of frustration with what i thought were battery issues i took the battery out and ot it checked at autozone and it had a reading of 12.2 wich is good.

My issue has been poor starting performance. I will go to start my quad and sometimes it will start right up or only attempt to start for about 3 seconds and sometimes it will just make a clicking noise. So i have been using a smartcharger to get it started and the occasional jump from a vehicle. Most recently it has been getting worse and now it doesnt even make an attempt to start like it used to. It also used to have a loud click and now i can barely hear it do anything. There was also a couple of incedents when i would be riding at an idle and it would just die, i could tell it wasnt a mechanical issue just by the way it turned off. I know that it starts fine mechanicaly because i can push it down a hill and pop it into second and it will start immediatly. It also used to start ok after riding for a lil while and now it wont even do that (so if i stall im pushing it home :banghead: )

I think this may be a ground wire problem? I have been riding in alot of mud and wet conditions wich could be closing the gap for the ground just enough. Does this make sense? Also with it may just have vibrated just loose enough to cause issues. (i have been slamming it around alot lately with wheelies and jumps)

As of right now i dont know were the ground wire connects so if u could tell me that i will take a look at it tommorow. Thanks. Any feedback is appreciated and if u have any questions or need more details just say so. I know all of u will do your best but im hoping to ride this weekend so :feedback: :help: whatever u think please tell me lol :bye:

The bike wont stay running if stator is crap, also did you load test the battery or just test volts. The battery may not be able to output enough?

The bike ran good for the day but wouldnt start on its own so i push started it about 5-6 time through the day and then at the end of the day whenever i hit the brakes and it was idleing it would cut out because of the lights. It wont stay running with the headlights on unless i have it on the charger for about 20 minutes before i start it then there isnt any problems. The next day i let it stay on the charger for about 20 minutes before i started it and it did ok and started back up on its own about 3-4 times. Thanks for all feedback

i would try a new battery, sounds like it's just not holding and maintaining a charge.

Would Wal-Mart have one that would work, or maybe autozone?
I kinda need a cheap alternative. Any autoparts store you can think of that normally has them in stock so i dont have to pay for the expensive type from the dealer? :3question: :3question: :3question: :3question:

Wal-mart will have them. Just follow the directions because you have to fill the battery with acid yourself then charge it before you use it.probably around 40.00 and take your old one with you for the core charge.
