Which of the 450's are the fastest in the straightline and which ones respond best to mods. I have my eyes set on the honda700xx but I also am kinda looking at the Suzuki450.

I have seen alot that the kawi 450 is the slowest.

read dirtwheels this month and last months. they have 450 shootouts. so not only the fastest, but every aspect of the 450! that way you get advice from someone who rode them all! personally i like the yfzs look and they are quick. but the ltr is pretty sweet also!

ya im pretty sure that shootout was completely stock. some of those bikes are pretty corked up. so for a few bikes you can turn the suzuki into a badass machine! and still have fi which is pretty sweet! i'd definately say look at the new can-am. check out the ltr and the yfz isn't bad either

Ok so you want a 450. Keep in mind they don't have torque like the big bores. Personally I have rode the yfz, trx, and the ltr. All were stock except the ltr, it had a "cherry bomb" adds 7hp. The yfz is geared really high, I stalled it twice in the begining. First gear is useless. Second gear on the yfz felt like first on my old 660 and so on. Also its a very small machine and im only 6' 200 pounds. The trx felt more comfortable and was alittle more snappy, its not geared quite so high and was more suitable for me in the turns. Now a trx with the hrc kit would be a better pick than the yfz, but the LTR was near perfect all around with the added 7hp. It has such a low stance due to the race tires 20's in the front and 18's in the rear and the 08 looks sick. Defianatley don't get a Kawi, seriously who rides a Kawi? Keep in mind KTM has a 450 & 525 (very nice quads) and Can-am put alot of technology into there 450, but I have yet had a chance to ride either one. Just my two cents. If I were you, I would take a weekend and go to all the dealerships and test ride all of them and then choose.

I have felt all the machines except the LTR, the YFZ felt like sitting on a little kids bike. I actually had to move my legs out of the way to turn the handles.

I like the way the all black LTR looks.
and the new ones i think have traction control...?

The LTR is cool and all but if you like the way the 700 sits and rides youl hate the LTR. When I ride one the front end feels like its in the dirt and the rear needs lowering but thats just the way it feels to me when Im on one. They handle like they are on rails but if its stone stock its a turd power wise......needs atleast the baffle/lid removed and the Cherry bomb.
