How long is too long?

I am looking to put a swing arm on my raptor, tired of fighting the front end. I ride mostly dunes, and some fire roads. Most of the quads in our group run a 4" swinger but I have a lot more mods/power then the rest of the raptors in our group. I was thinking about going 6" or 8" but I am curious how it will ride?

I agree with the +4. I haven't ridden anything longer but I know that even with a +4 I can drag the chassis skid a lot more on the crest of a dune versus stock. I also think the +4 keeps the bike feeling lively yet stable. Just my opinion of course.

one thing to think about is what is your % of riding in the dunes vs the logging roads. I had a plus 8 on my 660 and liked the feel but hated the turning. (way bigger radius). I still had a wheelie problem even after the plus 8 so now i am a plus 14. The strange thing is the radius is about the same as my plus 8.

I would go to a plus 6 if i did about a 50/50 split, or if the dunes was the bigger problem keeping the front end down.

hope this helps..

I have a +6 for the dunes and it will still play in the trails, but it does push the front end on some tight turns. Our other 700 has a +4 and we are able to sling it around pretty good and i don't really notice the push with it.

A +4 on a 660 raptor is equal to a stock swinger on a yzf 450! That shows you how under sized the swingers on the raptors are. Ive ran a +5 and loved it for playing on and just every day riding. Im currently running a +14 on my 'play/duner" bike now and at times still trys to come up.
