stripped bolt hole

i noticed that I had oil leaking from the bottom of my bike where my water pump is after looking I noticed that the steel line that goes from the oil pump to the valve cover was leaking from the bottom.bolt hole so I went to torque it down and just after the first click it let go and kept would not tighten back up. anyone have any suggestion? or should I just replace the side cover ?

Helicoil or equivalent usually works here

I have a spare side cover that the hole is not stripped on I'm just wondering if it's worth switching or would a helicoil work without having to go thru that process

It's your choice... If you do the easier fix - helicoil - and it then fails, at least you have another solution.
