It'll end up being just shy of 2 quarts with filter change.

you can put 2 qts. There won't be any side effects of just a hair over. Besides there is also the fact that you do loose a little oil from the film on inside. So don't worry. I've done that for 2 years on my 08 YFZ.

 

That would mean you should put a little LESS than the spec amount, due to residual oil covering parts, internals, oil lines, etc.

Spec states something like .8 in the case and 1.2 in the reservoir. Just under those amounts w/ filter change and you should be good. I had problems running mine with too much oil before, so use less, measure it, then add more if needed.

 

300cc in the engine
1500cc in the oil tank

 

1.96L is 2.07qts. So there is more then .07qts left inside the engine and reservoir. If you can measure that to add to your case then good on ya, but .07 isn't very much oil at all.

So you're correct I was thinking 2L not 2qts. Sorry. But any way to stack it 2 of either measurement will be enough. Remember there is a cross hatch section. So you could be under/on the full line or over/on the full line.

 

As long as you remember to put oil back in, you're good! lol I try to put less in after that one weird issue I had...who knows though, could have been something else I broke on it to, and not too much oil.
